Australian Ballooning FederationThe ABF is the national body which administers the day to day running of sport ballooning in Australia. Issue of private pilots, instructor and examiner certificates, training, operational safety and landowner relations are all co-ordinated by the ABF on behalf of CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) Membership is mandatory to hold a certificate and includes subscription to a quarterly magazine, Aeronotes, to keep you up to date with ballooning news from Australia and overseas. Any enquiries about joining and becoming a pilot should be directed to the national administrator. Regional ClubsAustralia has a number of state clubs that organise local ballooning and social events. The state clubs are the best way to make immediate contact with other balloonists and get involved. If you don't mind early mornings, clubs will be able to put you in touch with event organisers that need a hand or balloons looking for crew. If you are looking for an instructor in your area, often your local club will be the best place to start looking.
